ORIGINAL
MY COVER
DURATION
The Tempo of the original song is 70 Bpm

the length of the original song is 2 minutes and 52 seconds

The melody in the original uses mostly long notes or the notes are slurred together to create the illusion of long notes.
DURATION
The Tempo of my cover is also 70 Bpm

the length of the original song is 1 minutes and 57 seconds. its slightly shorter because i removed the long instrumental outro at the end of the song.

The melody in my cover is very similar to that of the original song however some parts are slightly different as it was hard for me to notate them exactly.
TONE COLOUR
The original piece uses keys, electric guitar, strings, un-pitched percussion, trumpet and vocals.

It creates an almost latin, jazzy, orchestral sound that is full rich and brassy.

it makes you want to dance and I love it!
TONE COLOUR
I decided to completely change the instrumentation to electric piano, a pad synth, saxophone, software drums and vocals.

This greatly affected the tone colour. Making it more gentle, warm and natural.

Although i changed the instrumentation i still tried to keep that lazy latin jazz feel that underlies the song.

I got rid of the long instrumental outro because I felt that it didn't add much to the song and it would add lots of work
PITCH
The original piece isn't particularly high or low falling somewhere in the middle.

Some of the accompaniment is particularly high however the vocal melody stays consistently slightly above middle c.

Some of the bass parts in the original are low however the multitude of parts balance each other out.
PITCH
In my cover I stayed true to the original for most of the song sticking to the same parts as the original.

However there are a few exceptions. I pitched the melody down an octave so it would be in a comfortable part of my singing range.

I also changed the part of the keys in the pre chorus as it was too complex for me to copy exactly

TEXTURE
The song isn't very dense if anything I would say that its quite thin, especially in the verses.

the choruses do have a few more parts with the introduction of strings however there is no harmony ever on the vocal melody and most of the song doesn't have that many parts.

The outro is a little more complex with a few more overlaying parts.
TEXTURE
In my cover I kept the texture very similar.
The pre chorus however, is a little less dense than the original song because i couldn't figure out the parts.

I still like the way it turned out because it feels like it calms in order to build up to the chorus that has more density.
DYNAMICS & EXPRESSIVE TECHNIQUES
There is a little bit of dynamic build up to the chorus in the original but there isn't lots of drastic dynamic change except for the melodic climax of the second verse where the vocals are loud.

The melody is very legato with lots of long and slurred notes.
DYNAMICS & EXPRESSIVE TECHNIQUES
I tried to stay as close to the original dynamics as i could so there isn't much contrast between my cover and the original song.

The vocals are generally a little quieter in my cover. This is because i didn't want to over power the other parts.
